What is Spice & Dragons?

Spice & Dragons is a Brisbane-based bookish brand (again, but faster!) specialising in fantasy and romantasy-inspired illustrative jewellery. Our products are handmade with love and attention to detail, and designed in-house. Spice & Dragons is (one of) the creative dreams of the founder of BINKABU, Maddi.

While jewellery is our forte, we also have plans for other bookish treasures and merchandise, including some collections for the spice-and-smut-obsessed. Please be advised some of our products will be suitable for adults only, and will have a dedicated section.

I need help with my order!

Please contact us with your order number, full name and how we can help you, and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please do not contact us on Instagram or Facebook if your query is urgent - DMs are not always monitored and can get lost.

Something is wrong with my order

We love the quality of our suppliers, and of course the utmost attention to detail goes into our own handywork, but sometimes when working with handmade items, particularly made-to-order, things can go wrong. Certainly not often, but I know these things happen! If you're not satisfied with the quality of your items, please reach out and I will do my best to help you!

Engraving and text customisation is done EXACTLY as written by you. We cannot accept returns/exchanges/refunds based on mistakes made by the customer, so please check and double check your text before purchase.

Why have I only received part of my order?

If an item isn’t handmade by us in Australia, it will be printed and made by one of our suppliers worldwide, chosen for their quality and shipping times. This means that, depending on what you purchase, your order may arrive in separate parcels, and the transit time to you will vary depending on where the items are shipped from. Every product has its origins clearly stated on the product page, as well as estimated transit times.

If you believe your order is taking longer than expected, please reach out to hellodarling@spiceanddragons.com.au and we will help you as soon as possible.

How long does shipping take?

Shipping and processing times will vary based on what kind of products you have ordered. We have two types of products: Ready-made, or made-to-order.

Ready-made items are handmade and ready to ship. Handmade items ship from Brisbane, Australia, and the processing time for order packing is between 2-5 business days. You can find Australia Post's estimated delivery times here.

Made-to-order items have a processing time of 2-4 business days for the production phase. Holidays and busier seasons can extend the production time. Shipping times will vary depending on the conditions and time of the year, but we can provide the following estimates:

USA: 2-5 days (Excluding Sundays)

USA Priority: 1-2 days (Excluding Sundays)

Canada: 5-10 business days

UK, most of EU (Shipped from Amsterdam): 3-7 business days 

Australia, New Zealand: 8-20 business days

Rest of the World: 5-20 business days

What are your products made from? Will I have a reaction or get green skin?

Our acrylic earrings are made from laser-cut acrylic (polymethylmethacrylate, PMMA), which is a thermoplastic homopolymer known more commonly as "plexiglass."

As for the posts and hoops and other findings, we use a high quality, hypoallergenic surgical stainless steel, so a good choice for sensitive earlobes. It is scratch-resistant, corrosion-resistant and tarnish-resistant. No itchy green skin from our products!

Our USA-made products are made from 316L Surgical Grade Stainless Steel.

Some of our USA-made products have a gold finish option. 18K gold products are plated with real 18K yellow gold. A high quality electroplating process is used, meaning it doesn't rub or flake away easily. 

For graphical products, a shatterproof liquid glass-like resin is applied, creating a clear dome.

Can I customise my order?

We previously had a range of customisable pieces, but have since discontinued them. We are working on introducing customisable products that are produced in-house very soon!

We don't support any other modifications. For example, you cannot request a different type of chain for the necklaces. We cannot customise our earrings or bookmarks at this time.

Do you have a rewards program?

Are your products licensed by authors?

Our designs are generic fantasy illustrations with no connection to specific series or titles. Our graphic jewellery and custom text jewellery can be modified by you, the customer, to commemorate your favourite characters, but this is entirely up to you.

If a product is associated with a published title, it will be appropriately licensed. We do not sell unlicensed merchandise. Unless explicitly stated, our designs do not represent the intellectual property of others. Our designs are original and our own intellectual property and protected as such by copyright law.

  • Standard Shipping in Australia: $9.95 
  • Express Shipping in Australia: $13
  • Free Shipping in Australia for orders over $80 AUD

  • Free shipping worldwide on orders over $150 AUD

𖤓 Origin of items & shipping times

If an item isn’t handmade by us in Australia, it will be printed by one of our various suppliers worldwide, chosen for their quality and shipping times. This means that, depending on what you purchase, your order may arrive in separate parcels, and the transit time to you will vary depending on where the items are shipped from. Every product has its origins clearly stated in the processing time tab on the product page, so all the information on what to expect with delivery is readily available and we aim to be as transparent as possible with this. The processing time tab will also give you a better estimate on shipping time.

☾𖤓 Lost in transit

We cannot take any responsibility for your parcel once it has left our hands and is with the postal service, and therefore cannot take responsibility for items lost during transit. You will receive a tracking number once your order has been shipped which will allow you to follow its journey. If the postal system deems a parcel lost and can offer reimbursement, we will be able to send your order out again. If you have made a significant purchase and would like to insure the parcel, please contact us as soon as you place your order, if not earlier. Insurance costs will be your own responsibility, and it might not always be possible. ☾𖤓 Wrong address supplied

We ship to the address listed by you when you place your order. If items are returned to me or my suppliers due to an incorrect address or non-collection, I will contact you for an updated address to resend it to you. However, you are responsible for the cost of re-shipping an item due to incorrect details, and you will be charged the full price (shipping charges on my website are heavily discounted). If you realise you have made a mistake and need to change your address, contact me ASAP, and I’ll gladly change it for you if I haven't sent it out yet.

Each order will have tracking details emailed to you and the relevant postal service used. Order queries for Australian-made items are best placed with Australia Post if you have any concerns about your parcel. We do not have access to any information other than your tracking number once the parcel has left our hands. To track your parcel, please input your tracking number here:

☾𖤓 Peak season delays

During holidays and peak seasons, transit times may be slower than normal. If you have ordered from more than one of our suppliers, their shipping times may vary widely, so you may find parcels arriving at different times. Though you might be pleasantly surprised, please factor in up to 1-4 weeks additional transit time during these peak times. ☾𖤓 Our packaging

We have chosen all of our packaging materials with the environment in mind. All of our packaging is made from eco-friendly materials and can be recycled or composted at home. See our Ethics & Environment page for a comprehensive list of our packaging materials.

Returns & Refunds Policy

☾ Due to the nature of handmade items, there may be slight imperfections present in your pieces. We do not exchange or refund items for imperfections of this nature.

☾ Purchases of sale items, seconds, samples or discontinued pieces are final. No refunds or exchanges can be made.

☾ For hygiene purposes, and due to the nature of our product sourcing, we do not offer exchanges or refunds if you change your mind about your purchase. This includes pre-order items that have not yet been dispatched. If you make a mistake during your order and contact us quickly to rectify it before we send it out, we will do our absolute best to help you out.

☾ We do not accept returns, but will offer a remake if:

  •  An items is damaged upon arrival (damaged during transit)
  • We have sent an incorrect item
  • The jewellery is not up to standard

To be eligible for a remake, your item must be unused, in the original packaging, and in the same condition that you received it. We may ask for proof of purchase, and will usually require photos of the damage and the packaging to confirm return eligibility.

☾ In a special case refund/return, we charge a 10% restocking fee which will be deducted from the refund.

☾ For our clothing and apparel items, we cannot provide returns or exchanges for sizing issues or change of mind. We provide detailed sizing charts for apparel to help you make the right purchase.

𖤓 Jewellery Repairs
We do not offer refunds or exchanges for items that have been damaged by you or broken after regular use. However, if you do damage or break your piece, please contact us so that we can advise if the damage is fixable, and direct you in its repair. In some cases, we will be able to conduct a repair for you. You will have to send it back to us and we will post it back once fixed. We don't cover shipping for this service, and there may be a small fee for labour and materials.

Jewellery Care Instructions

☾𖤓 Jewellery care for Australian-made acrylic products:

☾ Avoid wearing in water. Extended exposure to water could have an adverse effect on the finish and the stability of the earring post.

☾ Avoid handling with excess oily product on your hands (moisturiser, sunscreen etc)

☾ Do not bend or put unnecessary pressure on your earrings

☾ Do not drop or handle roughly

☾ Storing your earrings on a stand or in a box will help protect them while you're not wearing them and keep the earring posts safe from damage

☾ Always handle the earring post gently and remove earrings carefully

☾ To keep the acrylic shiny and free from fingerprints you can buff your earrings with a jewellery polishing cloth or microfibre cloth

☾𖤓 Jewellery care for USA-made items:

It's fine to get your jewellery wet. Wear it in the shower or while swimming, just make sure to dry it afterwards.

☾ If the item becomes dirty or tarnishes in some way, clean it using plain soap and water - drying with a soft cloth.

☾ Before storing the item, make sure it's fully dry and is not stored in a moist environment. When storing, avoid storing it mixed amongst other jewelry, as the tarnish on those pieces may spread and damage the item.

☾ While wearing, avoid exposure to chemicals (including cleaning agents), and avoid wearing in environments where the item may be knocked.

    Our jewellery is made with laser-cut acrylic, with hypoallergenic surgical stainless steel posts, hoops and hooks. We use round comfort backings for stud-based earrings for extra support. These choices make our range safe for sensitive skin and easy to wear all day and night! We wear-test all of our supplies to ensure quality.
